WASHINGTON – Commercial Window Shield, one of the country’s leaders in the installation of solar control window films at museums to protect fine art, has been contracted by The Kreeger Museum in Washington, D.C. for a second project in two years.
The project involves removing old solar film from windows in the museum’s Great Hall. Commercial Window Film will then install a spectrally selective solar control film on the same windows. Spectrally selective solar control film is a specialty product with a very high visible light transmittance. It allows light into the museum but blocks UV rays and diminishes solar heat gain to protect the art displayed in the Hall.
The museum will close for two days in late August for the solar control film removal and installation work and other renovations.

Harvey-Cleary will be renovating a three-story building housing U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Office of Inspector General offices. Under GSA’s 2005 Security Standard, some federal government tenants must meet specific requirements regarding window safety.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Commercial Window Shield has been hired by Harvey-Cleary Builders for a two-part window film installation project at the nation’s largest veteran’s clinic. Construction on the four-story, 470,000 square foot Fredericksburg Health Care Center began in 2021 and is expected to be completed in 2024.
Phase 1 of Commercial Window Shield’s role in the project, already completed, involved installing a mirrored, reflective privacy film on exterior ground floor windows in one section of the building to prevent people walking by from seeing inside the building, where a construction wall is located.

WASHINGTON – The Embassy of Israel has retained Commercial Window Shield for the installation of a framed polycarbonate ballistic-resistant window protection system.
The project involves the installation of the BulletShield system. The system being installed is UL752, Level 1-rated.
The issue at hand is the presence of a public access dog-walking terrace on one side of the building. That access is deemed a security risk to the occupants of the embassy. The ballistic-resistant window protection system is being installed to protect embassy employees and visitors in the event of an armed attack.
Production of the retrofit polycarbonate ballistic-resistant window protection system designed to fit the embassy windows has begun. Installation of the system will begin later this summer.
